Dave André is a professional engineer and lifelong community volunteer. He grew up in Malvern, an ethnically diverse and low income community in Scarborough.
He pursued higher education and graduated with a Bachelors of Applied Science from the University of Toronto. After completing his undergraduate education, Dave moved to Vancouver where he met his wife Rebecca. In 2011, Dave, Rebecca, and their two children moved back to Toronto and settled in East York.
From a young age, Dave has been committed to volunteerism. He has worked in development projects in Kenya and Guatemala. Dave has also been involved with numerous small non-profits as either a volunteer or serving in leadership roles such as Board of Directors. During the 2014 Toronto municipal election, Dave combined his experience with his passion for community service to run for City Councillor in East York. Dave earned broad support in the community.
In his professional life, Dave is an engineer and principal at Morrison Hershfield. Morrison Hershfield is a privately owned multi-disciplinary engineering firm with offices across Canada and the United States. In 2015, Dave joined the Project Management division at Morrison Hershfield in a leadership capacity. Prior to that role, he was the Toronto practice lead for facade engineering.
Dave founded sySTEMic in 2015. His past volunteer experiences have taught him that all people have the capacity to cause meaningful change if only they are willing to work hard and take courageous action. Dave has never been afraid of either.
